MP Sizzles Under Severe Heatwave: 22 Cities Cross 44°C As Naugaon Hits Season's High Of 47°C

BHOPAL: Heatwave swept across Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday with 22 cities in the state recording temperature of over 44-degree Celsius.

Naugaon in Chhatarpur district emerged as the hottest area in the state by recording a temperature of 47 degree Celsius.

Khajuraho in Chhatarpur district turned out to be the second hottest city in the state by recording a temperature of 46.4 degree Celsius.

The meteorology department has warned that the heatwave condition will prevail across the state in the next three days and advised the citizens to stay indoors between 12 pm to three pm during the period.

The other cities in the state which recorded temperature of over 45- degree Celsius included Datia (45.8), Rajgarh (45.6), Damoh (45.5), Shajapur, Tikamgarh, Guna and Sagar (45.2 each), and Satna (45.1).

While Gwalior recorded temperature of 45 degree Celsius, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Ujjain and Indore recorded temperature of 44.6 degree Celsius, 44.2 degree Celsius, 43.8 degree Celsius, and 43.7 degree Celsius respectively.

Roads were seen deserted during the day in these cities.

Drone cameras showed that the main thoroughfares in Bhopal and Indore completely remained deserted with people preferring to stay indoors to avoid exposure to heatwave.

The met scientists expect that temperature may record further rise by two to three-degree Celsius in the next three days and advised the people to hydrate them sufficiently and avoid exposure to heat as much as possible during the period.
