MP: Plasma, Blood Stolen in AIIMS, Bhopal, 2 Booked

A technician, an outsourced employee, of the blood bank of AIIMS, Bhopal, and his accomplice in the case have been booked following a complaint lodged by the authorities concerned in Bagh Sevania police station here.

Theft of plasma and blood has been reported from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, police said on Friday.

A technician, an outsourced employee, of the blood bank of AIIMS, Bhopal, and his accomplice in the case have been booked following a complaint lodged by the authorities concerned in Bagh Sevania police station here.

A complaint filed by the blood bank in-charge of AIMS, Bhopal, Dr Gyanendra Prasad said that plasma and blood had been found disappearing from the blood bank for a long time, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajnish Kashyap Koul said.

Several units of plasma and blood have been found missing from the blood bank, he said.

Preliminary police investigation has suggested that a technician working in the blood bank, identified as Ankit, along with his accomplice was allegedly involved in the theft.

Both of them have been booked in the case.

They however remained at large, police said.

According to the complaint, the technician was caught in CCTV installed in AIIMS, Bhopal, handing over two plasma units to an unidentified person on September 28.

He fled the spot when the AIIMS management started questioning him on the matter.

“We have asked the AIIMS, Bhopal, to submit the CCTV footage for probe”, the police said.
