Bhopal: Non-Existent College, Affiliated To MP’s Reputed University, Found Issuing Degrees For A Decade, Probe Ordered
“The address mentioned in the documents of the affiliated college was found to be an agriculture field and there was no sign of any college there": A Senior officer of BU

BHOPAL: A college, affiliated to Bhopal-based Barkatullah University (BU), has been found to exist in farmland without any building, staff or students at the designated site. The shocking revelation came following the recent visit of the varsity inspection team to the address listed in the documents of the affiliated college, a senior officer of BU, one of the oldest universities in Madhya Pradesh, said on Saturday, requesting not to be quoted.
“The address mentioned in the documents of the affiliated college was found to be an agriculture field and there was no sign of any college there,” he added.
The inspection followed a complaint alleging irregularities in the affiliation records, he said.
According to the official, it has been found in the varsity records that degrees have been approved and issued in the name of the college for a decade.
“The university is treating it as a grave issue and an academic fraud. A probe has been ordered to go deep into the matter to find out how the affiliation was granted and identify the officials who authorized the issuance of degrees,” the varsity officer said.
The university has also taken up the matter with the state education department seeking a joint investigation into it, he added.
