MP: Navodaya Students Lock Hostel to Demand Teacher’s Transfer; Police Deployed
The students alleged that the physical education teacher Ashush Tiwari has been physically and mentally harassing them if they get late to the drill classes.

Bhopal: Around 80 students of the Navodyaya Vidyalaya in Joura in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district on Wednesday locked themselves in their hostel demanding transfer of the physical training teacher, officials said.
The students belonging to Class IX to XII locked themselves in the hostel by closing all the gates for around three hours seeking intervention by the local administration to meet their demand, a senior officer said. The school authorities learnt about it when they found classrooms in the school were vacant.
The school staff then went to the hostel to find it locked. This created panic among the school staff. The school authorities immediately reported the matter to the police, a member of the staff said.
Ambulances and fire brigade were called in to attend to the students, if needed, officials said. Joura sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Sourav Sharma along with a police team arrived at the spot to handle the situation.
Later, Mr. Sharma assured the students that the teacher will be transferred and a committee will be set up to probe the charges against him.
The students alleged that the physical teacher Ashush Tiwari has been physically and mentally harassing them if they get late to the drill classes.
The students later relented and opened the gates of the hostel following assurance given by the SDM to fulfil their demand.
Mr. Sharma later told the media that the Morena district education officer has been asked to constitute a committee to probe the charges against the teacher concerned. The teacher has been sent on leave for impartial inquiry.
