MP May Terminate Contract for Metro Project with Turkish Firm over Drone Supply to Pak

The development comes in the wake of India canceling the security clearance of Turkish-based firm Celebi Aviation in the ‘interest of national security’.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government is mulling shelving the contract awarded to the Turkish firm, Asis Guard, for digital works in the metro project in the state, over supply of drones, manufactured by the company, to Pakistan.

State urban development minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has said that the firm is under scrutiny for supplying drones to Pakistan which were allegedly used in anti-India operations, particularly during the Operation Sindoor.

“The company is under scanner for its suspected involvement in the activities threatening national security of the country. An investigation is underway into it”, Mr. Vijayvargiya said.

If any link of the company to anti-India activities is established in the probe, then its contract for the Bhopal and Indore metro projects will be terminated, he added.

“For us national interest is paramount. Nation is first. Any kind of activities threatening India’s sovereignty will not be tolerated”, he said.

The Turkish company, Asis Guard, which is manufacturing drones, is accused of supplying its drones to Pakistan during the recent Indo-Pak conflict, he said.

The development comes in the wake of India canceling the security clearance of Turkish-based firm Celebi Aviation in the ‘interest of national security’.

The company has however clarified that it remains in full compliance with Indian aviation, national security, and tax regulations, and operates with complete transparency.
