MP: Man Kills Couple By Beheading Them To Appease ‘Upset Deity’

Bhopal: Driven by superstition, a man in a Madhya Pradesh village on Thursday killed an elderly couple by beheading them to ‘appease the upset deity’, police said.
The gruesome incident took place in the village of Atraba in Singrauli district in the wee hours of Thursday.
According to the police, the accused, Chatrapati Singh (21), invited two couples, his neighbours, to attend a ‘special puja’ being performed by him in his house to propitiate a deity, believing that the deity became upset with his family and caused miscarriage of his wife.
He then attacked an elderly couple, present on the occasion, with a sharp weapon and beheaded them.
The slain couple were identified as Phool Kumari Singh (50) and Kemla Singh (65), according to the police.
He also attacked the other couple, present on the occasion, leaving them injured, police said.
The accused was later arrested.
