MP For Monogamists Only, No Place For Those Having Multiple Spouses: CM Yadav
Mr. Yadav also said that the triple talaq, which has been abolished, will attract jail sentences for the person who enforces it.

Bhopal: Chief minister Mohan Yadav, while forcefully advocating for the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), has said that there is no place in the state for those who have multiple spouses.
He said that there should be no separate laws for Hindus and Muslims and added that multiple spouse-privilege enjoyed by the men in a minority community must be discouraged.
“Madhya Pradesh will be no place for the persons having multiple spouses”, he said while indicating provisions of the proposed UCC.
Under the proposed UCC, only the person who has one marriage will have the legal right to reside in Madhya Pradesh, he said.
There should be one system for everyone, he said.
Mr. Yadav also said that the triple talaq, which has been abolished, will attract jail sentences for the person who enforces it.
The chief minister said that the UCC Bill is going to be tabled in the upcoming five-day monsoon session of the Assembly, commencing on July 20.
A six-member committee headed by retired supreme court Justice Ranjana Prasad Desai, constituted to prepare the UCC draft Bill, submitted the report to the state government recently.
