MP: Bride, Groom, Family Members Attacked In For Not serving Liquor To Guests

The incident took place in the village of Patai under Aron police station late on Tuesday night, according to the local city superintendent of police Manish Yadav.

Bhopal: Bride, groom and their family members were allegedly assaulted by some guests in a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district for not being served liquor at the wedding celebration, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place in the village of Patai under Aron police station late on Tuesday night, according to the local city superintendent of police Manish Yadav.

According to the police, the groom, Mahesh Jatav, was approached by a group of people in the village to throw a liquor party for them on the occasion.

An altercation ensued between him and the group when he refused to oblige them.

The assailants later allegedly attacked him and his family members including the bride, police said.

When his mother tried to pacify the unruly people, she was also allegedly assaulted by them, police said.

The incident occurred when some rituals were being performed in the house on the occasion of arrival of the bride.

A probe was underway into the incident, police said.
