Asserts service is core of BJP’s governance, values
New Delhi: Reaffirming the BJP’s resolve to focus on nation-building and development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the youth would play a major role in realising the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047.
Virtually interacting with participants of the Seva Sankalp Yatra from Vadnagar in Gujarat to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, Modi said service had been at the core of the BJP’s governance and values and asserted that the party would not deviate from this path irrespective of the political power it attained.
The yatra, involving youth from various states, is being organised to mark Modi’s 76th birthday and his 25 years in public life as an elected representative. The participants were in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.
“Politics, elections and governance have their own place, but we have set out with the resolve to build the nation and develop India,” Modi said.
Noting that Vadnagar was his birthplace and Varanasi his “karmabhoomi”, Modi said service had remained central to his governance from Gujarat to Delhi.
“Our conduct should show people that no matter how much power we attain in politics, our fundamental path will remain service. We will never deviate from the path of service, no matter how high we reach,” he said.
Modi said the spirit of service formed the foundation of government schemes for the poor, women, girls, the sick and tribal communities.
Emphasising the role of the younger generation in achieving the Viksit Bharat@2047 goal, Modi said, “Today’s young generation is both the creator of a developed India and will also be a major beneficiary once this goal is achieved.”
He urged the yatra participants to learn from traditional knowledge in villages and spread the message of India’s “unity in diversity”.
