Modi to Launch ₹2,200 Cr Projects in Varanasi

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth around ₹2,200 crore in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on Saturday.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the projects span various sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development, and cultural heritage. These initiatives aim to achieve holistic urban transformation, cultural rejuvenation, improved connectivity, and enhanced quality of life in Varanasi.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects, including the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi-Bhadohi road and Chhitauni-Shool Tankeshwar road, and a railway overbridge at Hardattpur, aimed at easing congestion on the Mohan Sarai-Adalpura road. He will also lay the foundation stone for comprehensive road widening and strengthening across multiple rural and urban corridors.
As part of the city’s energy infrastructure upgrade, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for various works under the Smart Distribution Project and the undergrounding of electrical infrastructure worth over ₹880 crore.
In a major boost to tourism, Modi will inaugurate the redevelopment of eight riverfront kuccha ghats, development works at Kalika Dham, beautification of the pond and ghat at Rangildas Kutiya in Shivpur, and the restoration and water purification of Durgakund.

He will also lay the foundation stone for the restoration of Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple and the development of Karkhiyaon, the birthplace of several freedom fighters. Other initiatives include City Facility Centres at Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi, and Ramnagar zones, redevelopment of Munshi Premchand’s ancestral home in Lamahi, and its conversion into a museum.
Environmental and recreational projects include the development of an urban Miyawaki forest at Kanchanpur and the beautification of Shaheed Udyan and 21 other parks. To preserve culturally significant water bodies, Modi will lay the foundation stone for purification and maintenance work at kunds including Ramkund, Mandakini, and Shankuldhara, along with the installation of four floating pujan platforms.
To ensure access to potable water in rural areas, the Prime Minister will inaugurate 47 rural drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
In the education sector, Modi will inaugurate the upgraded infrastructure of 53 school buildings within municipal limits and lay the foundation stone for several new educational projects.
In a major boost to healthcare, the Prime Minister will inaugurate advanced medical equipment, including robotic surgery and CT scan facilities, at Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital. He will also lay the foundation stone for a Homoeopathic College and Hospital.
Sports and law enforcement infrastructure will also receive attention. The Prime Minister will inaugurate a synthetic hockey turf at Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium and a 300-capacity multipurpose hall at Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) in Ramnagar. He will also lay the foundation stone for Quick Response Team (QRT) barracks.
Additionally, Modi will release the 20th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, transferring over ₹20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 9.7 crore farmers nationwide. With this release, the total disbursement under the scheme will surpass ₹3.90 lakh crore since its inception.
