Meerut Wife, Lover Use Snake to Kill Husband for Rs 20 Lakh Insurance
Police say the accused allegedly drugged the victim before releasing a snake to stage his death as accidental and claim the insurance payout.

In a chilling case from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, a woman and her alleged lover have been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband by first drugging him and then releasing a venomous snake on him, allegedly to claim Rs 20 lakh from his life insurance policy.
According to police, the accused meticulously planned the murder to make it appear as a natural snakebite death. Investigators alleged that the victim was sedated before the snake was released, ensuring he could not resist or escape the attack.
The case came to light after police found inconsistencies in the circumstances surrounding the man's death. A detailed investigation, including forensic evidence and questioning of the suspects, allegedly revealed the conspiracy.
Police said the primary motive behind the crime was to obtain the insurance payout. The accused reportedly believed that a snakebite death would not arouse suspicion and would help them claim the insurance amount without attracting attention.
Both the woman and her alleged lover have been arrested and booked on charges including murder and criminal conspiracy. The snake allegedly used in the crime has also become a key part of the investigation, with officials working to determine how it was procured and handled.
Further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and whether any other individuals were involved in planning or executing the crime.
