India Summons US Envoy, Lodges Protest Over Attacks on Commercial Vessels
Second summons by Ministry of External Affairs as vessel with 20 Indian crew is hit; three seafarers confirmed dead in recent attacks.

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday summoned U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Jason Meeks and lodged a strong protest over continuing attacks by U.S. naval forces on commercial vessels carrying Indian mariners in the Gulf of Oman.
According to an official statement, the government expressed serious concern over the incidents, which have already resulted in the loss of three Indian lives. The Ministry described the use of lethal force against civilian shipping as “unacceptable” and warned that such actions undermine the safety, security and stability of international maritime trade in a sensitive region.
India conveyed its deep concern over the situation and urged the U.S. to exercise restraint. The envoy was asked to communicate India’s position to his authorities and ensure that U.S. forces operating in the region take all necessary measures to prevent further loss of civilian life.
The development marks the second time the U.S. mission has been summoned by India over the issue, highlighting escalating diplomatic concerns.
