A 50-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his elder brother during a quarrel over a family-owned babul tree in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district.
A dispute over the felling of a family-owned babul tree turned fatal in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district after a man allegedly assaulted his younger brother, who later died during treatment, police said on Monday.The incident took place in Bhelkha village under the Manjhanpur police station limits.
According to police, Babbu Lal (50), who worked at a brick kiln in Bihar, returned to his village on Sunday after learning that his elder brother, Raja, had cut down a babul tree belonging to the family a day earlier. An argument broke out between the two brothers and later escalated into a physical altercation, police said.
Raja allegedly thrashed Babbu Lal and pushed him, causing him to fall headfirst onto the leg of a nearby cot, resulting in serious injuries, they said. Babbu Lal was taken to a private hospital at the district headquarters, where he succumbed to his injuries late on Sunday night, police added.
Circle Officer Shivank Singh said an FIR under charges of murder has been registered against Raja on the complaint of the deceased's daughter-in-law, Budli Devi. The accused is absconding, and police teams have been formed to arrest him, the officer said, adding that further legal proceedings are underway.
