Mahadev Betting App Kingpin Extradited From Oman
CBI brings Sourabh Chandrakar to India to face cases linked to the ₹6,000-crore illegal betting network and alleged money laundering.

The CBI on Sunday brought back Sourabh Chandrakar, the alleged kingpin of the ₹6,000-crore Mahadev online betting scam, following his extradition from Oman. He will be produced before a special CBI court in Raipur on Monday.
A special CBI team travelled to Muscat and escorted Chandrakar to India after the Oman government approved his extradition. He is wanted in two CBI cases in which chargesheets have been filed. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also filed a prosecution complaint against him.
Chandrakar was detained by the Royal Oman Police following an Interpol Red Corner Notice. The CBI and ED subsequently submitted extradition requests, along with evidence gathered against him.
According to the CBI, Mahadev Online Book operated one of India's largest illegal betting networks from abroad, offering bets on cricket, football, card games and other events through a nationwide network of franchise operators.
Investigators alleged that the syndicate laundered betting proceeds through mule bank accounts and multiple transactions before transferring the money abroad through hawala channels.
The agency also alleged that part of the proceeds was used to pay protection money to public servants to ensure the syndicate operated without hindrance.
The ED has attached several properties in India and abroad linked to the syndicate.
Chandrakar will undergo a medical examination before being taken to Raipur after the CBI obtains transit remand
