Madhya Pradesh: Vijayvargiya’s ‘Kafir’ Remarks Sparks Row, Congress Calls It ‘Divisive Language’

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Umang Singhar slammed Mr. Vijayavargiya for his ‘Kafir’ statement, calling it ‘objectionable’: Reports

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh urban development minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has landed himself in a ‘language row’ when he said that the “Muslims who call us Kafir should not walk on the roads” built “in their areas”, with Opposition Congress taking strong exception to it.

Addressing a gathering in Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, he said that the roads were built in areas where both Hindus and Muslims live. “But some Muslim brothers call us kafirs,” he said and added that “If we are Kafirs, then they should not walk on these roads. They should not also accept the money given under various schemes such as Ladli Behna and Ladli Laxmi’.

Vijayvargia hastened to add that neither the BJP nor the current government had ever discriminated against any community and worked on the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikash, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’. The BJP’s policy was to work for the development of people irrespective of their political leanings. “We work with dedication without considering who voted for us and who did not vote for us,” he said.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Umang Singhar slammed Vijayavargiya for his statement, calling it ‘objectionable’. The minister is using divisive language, he said and added that it is a violation of constitutional and democratic norms.
