Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the logo at the Sahyadri Guest House

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Wednesday unveiled the official logo for the upcoming Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027. The design features elements such as Lord Shiva’s trident, the Trimbakeshwar temple, the arch of the Kalaram temple and the Godavari River, reflecting the spiritual significance of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the logo at the Sahyadri Guest House in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar. The winning design was selected through a nationwide competition, organised by the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority, which received a total of 3,067 entries, including 70 from international participants. A panel of eminent design experts, including Prasoon Joshi, selected the winning design.
The winning artwork was created by Pune’s Sumit Kate, who received a prize of Rs 3 lakh along with a certificate. The second prize of Rs two lakh was awarded to Mayank Nayak from Noida, while Piyush Pimpaleker from Pandharpur secured third place and received Rs 1 lakh.
“The Kumbh Mela, which will be held in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, its logo was unveiled today. And a meeting was held with the heads of all our 13 major ‘akhadas’ (monastic orders) and with the sadhus and mahants. We presented what preparations we have made before them. They told us what their expectations are. We have assured them of fulfilling those, and together with the akhadas, sadhus, and mahants, we are trying to organise a grand and divine Kumbh Mela,” Fadnavis said.
The CMO posted on X that the logo represents Indian spirituality, faith, and the Simhastha tradition, featuring the trident of Lord Shankar, the aura of Shri Kshetra Trimbakeshwar Temple, and the Godavari River, embodied symbolically as a Shivling. The design aims to convey the cultural heritage, Indian traditions, and national integration.
The announcement marked a major moment in preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, which is expected to attract millions of devotees from across India and abroad. The Simhastha Kumbh Mela will start on October 31, 2026, and run until July 24, 2028, with main bathing events in 2027.
