LDF Has Fevicol Bond With BJP, Says Revanth

He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vijayan represented different ideologies but shared “common failures.”

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday accused Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) of having a “secret understanding” with the BJP. He termed the relationship between the BJP and LDF as a “fevicol bond” and said voting for the LDF was “equivalent to voting for the BJP.”

Campaigning as a star campaigner for the Congress in multiple constituencies, including Nemom, Revanth Reddy said only the defeat of Vijayan would usher in better days for Kerala.

While the BJP and LDF appear to be political rivals, Revanth Reddy claimed that their outcomes were similar and detrimental to Kerala’s progress. The United Democratic Front (UDF), however, Revanth Reddy said, had drawn a “Lakshmana Rekha” to prevent the BJP and RSS from gaining ground in Keralam.

Alleging the BJP of misusing central agencies like the ED and CBI against political opponents, Revanth Reddy said the Centre had taken no such action against the Kerala government despite allegations such as the gold smuggling case.

He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vijayan represented different ideologies but shared “common failures,” accusing them of stalling development and investments in both the country and the state. He further criticised the Vijayan government for remaining silent on stalled infrastructure projects, including national highways.

Highlighting unemployment concerns, Revanth Reddy said Keralam’s educated youth were forced to migrate abroad due to lack of local opportunities, particularly to Gulf countries. He pointed out that global uncertainties, including conflicts in the Gulf region, were affecting Malayali families and demanded that the Centre provide financial support to returning workers. He accused both the Centre and the state government of failing to address inflation, job creation and economic growth.

Revanth Reddy stressed that the Congress and UDF were committed to comprehensive development, promising industrial growth, job creation and welfare measures. He said Kerala, once considered a “golden state” due to remittances from abroad, had lost its momentum under the current regime. He expressed confidence that the Congress would restore growth, attract investments and revive the state’s past glory.

Praising Kerala’s legacy, Revanth Reddy described it as a role model for literacy, education and social progress, attributing this to former Congress chief ministers K. Karunakaran, Oommen Chandy and A. K. Antony. He said their leadership ensured balanced development, welfare and clean governance, which earned Kerala global recognition as “God’s Own Country.”

Drawing comparisons, he termed the last 12 years under Modi at the Centre and 10 years under Vijayan in Keralam as a “double failure,” alleging that both governments had led to economic stagnation and rising unemployment.

He said Telangana, developed under the vision of Sonia Gandhi, was progressing and expressed hope that Kerala would follow a similar path under Congress leadership. He also lauded Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, stating that they shared a strong bond with the people of Kerala.

Revanth Reddy's attempt to address the people in Malayalam further energised the gatherings, with supporters raising slogans hailing him as a dynamic leader.

Revanth Reddy expressed confidence that the Congress-led UDF would register a decisive victory in the Assembly elections, promising to bring back development with dignity and restore Kerala’s past glory.
