Ayodhya’s Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple has received a magnificent gift - a gold-plated idol of Lord Ram valued between Rs 25–30 Crore, donated by an anonymous devotee from Karnataka. Standing nearly 10 feet tall and 8 feet wide, and weighing around 5 quintals, the idol is made in the Southern Thanjavur style of craftsmanship, renowned for its gold work, vibrant colors, and depictions of Hindu gods. The idol is framed in wood and is embellished with precious stones, including diamonds, emeralds, and sapphires.
The idol undertook a 1,750-kilometer journey over six days under tight security before reaching Ayodhya. Upon arrival, members of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra confirmed its receipt and announced that preparations are underway for the official Pran-Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony. Following the ritual, the idol is expected to be installed at Angad Tila, near the Sant Tulsidas Temple.
Temple officials are currently verifying the idol’s material and weight, with detailed information to be shared after the authentication process is complete. The formal unveiling ceremony will mark a new chapter in the spiritual and cultural journey of the Ram Lalla Temple.
The artistry reflects the celebrated Thanjavur style, an ancient South Indian tradition renowned for its raised gold relief work, vibrant colors, and depictions of Hindu gods and saints. This extraordinary donation has sparked widespread attention online, with devotees from across the nation praising the anonymous contribution wholeheartedly.
