IPS Officer Visits Hotel Amid Nadda's Meeting, Sparks Mystery

The BJP leaders present there looked curious after coming to know about the cop’s quick entry and exit

Kolkata: A senior IPS officer’s brief visit to a hotel during BJP president and union health minister JP Nadda’s meeting there triggered a mystery on a day the city saw Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee's unprecedented tussle with Enforcement Directorate for raiding her party's consulting firm I-PAC in the coal smuggling scam.
Mr Nadda, who reached the city on a two-day visit on Thursday to supervise state BJP’s preparations for the upcoming Assembly Election, was chairing a party meeting with district presidents, bibhag convenors and pravasi karyakartas and at the hotel in Salt Lake in the afternoon.
Suddenly, Sumit Kumar, deputy inspector general (security) of the West Bengal police, arrived at the hotel and walked into the corridors towards the hall where the BJP meeting was underway.
He however turned back soon and walked out. Asked by the media about his visit, Mr Kumar said, “I came here to look for someone,” and left. The BJP leaders present there looked curious after coming to know about the cop’s quick entry and exit.
Mr Nadda later posted on X-handle, “Chaired an organisational meeting with @BJP4Bengal district Presidents, Bibhag Convenors and Pravasi Karyakartas in Kolkata today to review preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.”
He alleged, “Years of corruption, violence, appeasement and misgovernance under Mamata Didi’s government have pushed Bengal to the brink. The state has turned into a safe haven for infiltrators. Bengal has suffered enough and will no longer fall for deception.”
The union minister claimed, “Guided by the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, every BJP karyakarta is working with full dedication to make the lotus bloom in West Bengal.”
In the evening he addressed a doctor's meeting and discussed organisational issues with the state BJP core team.
