India's Dual-Use Exports Fully Comply with Global Obligations: MEA

New Delhi: All Indian exports of dual-use items comply with national laws and international obligations, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday, virtually rejecting Amnesty International's allegations that New Delhi continues supplying arms to Israel despite risks of their use in war crimes in Gaza.

"India has a robust legal and regulatory framework on strategic trade controls and carries out its export of dual-use items and technologies to various countries in accordance with our national laws and consistent with our international obligations," MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.

His remarks came in response to a question on Amnesty International's allegations.

The human rights watchdog has long called for a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel that covers the direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer of arms and military material.

In a report released on Wednesday, Amnesty International alleged that corporations in India continued to export weapons or dual-use items to Israel, notwithstanding public warnings about their possible use in "crimes against humanity" in Gaza by Israel's armed forces.

India and Indian companies supplying weapons, ammunition, parts or components must immediately cease all transfers of arms and ammunition, including parts and components, to Israel, it said.
