Indian Seafarer’s Body Returned Without Organs, Family Demands Probe
Re-autopsy in India reveals all major organs missing; calls grow for investigation and diplomatic intervention

New Delhi: A shocking case has emerged involving an Indian seafarer, Rakesh Chauhan, whose mortal remains were repatriated from Venezuela to his hometown in Uttar Pradesh under mysterious circumstances.
According to reports, the body was sent back without an official autopsy report or detailed explanation from Venezuelan authorities. Following the family’s demand, a second post-mortem examination was conducted in India, which revealed that all major internal organs were missing.
The report stated that the brain, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, stomach, intestines, and even structures such as the thyroid, hyoid bone, larynx, and trachea were absent. The body also bore extensive stitching, including a long incision from the neck to the pubic region and additional stitching across the head.
Doctors noted that no clear antemortem injuries were found, and the cause of death could not be determined due to the absence of organs. It was also reported that the body had been kept in deep freeze for nearly a month before being sent to India.
The incident has sparked outrage, with demands for a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding Chauhan’s death. Calls have been made for accountability from Venezuelan authorities and immediate intervention by Indian diplomatic missions.
The family is seeking answers, justice, and compensation, as concerns grow over the safety and treatment of Indian seafarers working abroad.
