Indian Navy To Host Multinational Maritime Exercise in Kochi

New Delhi: The Indian Navy will conduct a multinational training exercise involving Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) partner nations at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi from July 20 to 23.
The exercise, titled “Operation Southern Readiness 26-2”, will bring together personnel from countries including the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, Thailand, the UAE, Oman, Djibouti, Seychelles and the United Kingdom for maritime security training and exchange of practices.
“The four-day multinational training engagement will be conducted in partnership with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) under the aegis of the Indian Navy-led Combined Task Force 154 (CTF 154), CMF’s dedicated Training Task Force,” the Indian Navy said in a statement.
CMF is a multinational maritime partnership headquartered in Bahrain, focusing on counter-terrorism, counter-piracy, maritime security and regional cooperation. Combined Task Force 154 functions as its training arm, which the Indian Navy assumed command of in February.
“Through its association with Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), a multinational maritime partnership comprising more than 40 nations, the Indian Navy continues to contribute to regional capacity building and collective maritime security,” the statement said.
The training programme will include classroom sessions, simulator-based exercises and onboard practical training. It will cover areas such as maritime law, maritime domain awareness, information sharing, counter-narcotics, force protection and asymmetric threats, along with training in damage control, firefighting, communications, survival at sea and boarding procedures.
“Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 will showcase the Indian Navy’s modern training infrastructure, state-of-the-art simulators, advanced instructional methodologies, and professional expertise,” the Navy said, adding that the exercise aims to enhance interoperability and cooperation among participating nations.
