India, UAE May Sign Energy MoUs During Modi Visit

Modi will meet UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi to discuss bilateral cooperation, including energy ties and regional issues.

New Delhi: India is expected to advance energy cooperation with the United Arab Emirates during Narendra Modi’s visit on Friday, with government sources indicating that MoUs on LPG and Strategic Petroleum Reserves (SPR) are likely to be signed.

Officials said energy security will be a key focus of the visit amid the ongoing West Asia situation. Modi will meet UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi to discuss bilateral cooperation, including energy ties and regional issues.

The visit will also review progress under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and explore avenues to strengthen trade and investment relations.

At a briefing, MEA secretary (West) Sibi George said trade, technology and talent would be central to the Prime Minister’s engagements.

Following the UAE visit, Modi will travel to Europe, beginning with the Netherlands from May 15 to 17. He is scheduled to meet King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Prime Minister Rob Jetten, with discussions covering defence, innovation, semiconductors and water management.

In Sweden, Modi will hold talks with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on cooperation in trade, green transition, technology and defence. The two leaders will also address a business forum alongside Ursula von der Leyen.

The Prime Minister will then visit Norway for the India-Nordic Summit and bilateral discussions, focusing on sectors such as renewable energy, sustainability, defence and the blue economy.

The final leg of the tour will be in Italy, where Modi will meet Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to discuss trade, investment, clean energy and technology cooperation.

The multi-nation visit is aimed at strengthening India’s strategic partnerships and expanding cooperation across key sectors.
