The exercise provided an opportunity to both contingents to train together, exchange operational experiences and share best practices: Reports

NEW DELHI: The 18th edition of Nomadic Elephant, the joint military exercise between the Indian and Mongolian armies, concluded in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, on Saturday.
The exercise began on September 20 to enhance interoperability, strengthen mutual understanding and promote the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two armies.
“The exercise provided an opportunity to both contingents to train together, exchange operational experiences and share best practices, thereby enhancing their ability to operate cohesively in a joint environment,” an official statement said.
Training was conducted in three phases. The first, from September 20 to 23, focused on integration and familiarisation with each other’s operational procedures and training methods.
The second phase, from September 24 to 30, comprised joint training activities and combat drills. The final validation phase, held on October 1 and 2, allowed both contingents to assess the training undertaken in the preceding phases through integrated joint training.
The activities included tactical drills, intelligence and surveillance, technology demonstrations, heli-borne operations, casualty management and evacuation, marksmanship, specialised skills, drone handling and cyber security.
The contingents also exchanged operational experiences and best practices to improve coordination and mutual understanding.
“The Closing Ceremony marked the successful culmination of the exercise and provided an opportunity for both contingents to reflect upon the training and experiences gained during the exercise. The event also showcased the rich cultural and martial heritage of India and Mongolia, underscoring the enduring bonds between the two nations,” the statement said.
Sports activities helped strengthen friendship and mutual respect among troops from the two countries, it added.
The statement described the exercise as another milestone in strengthening defence cooperation between India and Mongolia.
