India, Australia To Hold Defence Talks Today

Rajnath Singh and Richard Marles to review defence cooperation, regional security and new opportunities in military and industrial collaboration.

New Delhi: Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Australian Deputy Prime Minister and defence minister Richard Marles will on Monday co-chair the second India-Australia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue.

The dialogue will review progress in bilateral defence cooperation and explore new areas of collaboration, with focus on strengthening defence and security ties, enhancing military interoperability and expanding industry partnerships, including co-development and co-production.
Discussions will also cover regional and global security developments of mutual interest.
The meeting is expected to further strengthen bilateral defence relations, deepen strategic trust and promote stability in the Indo-Pacific region, while identifying new avenues for cooperation.
The visit of Marles follows the inaugural dialogue held in Australia in October 2025 and reflects the growing momentum in the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Australia remains a key partner in India’s vision of a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific, with the visit underscoring the expanding scope of defence engagement between the two countries.
