Maharashtra: After Nearly 200 Years, A Girl Is Born In Beed's Family
Newborn Girl and Mother welcomed with grand chariot procession and music
Parli (Beed): In a rare and joyful event, a baby girl has been born after nearly 200 years (spanning four generations) in the Dahiphale family of Parli taluka, Beed district of Maharashtra. With the arrival of this newborn—considered the arrival of 'Goddess Lakshmi'—in the fifth generation, the family's happiness knew no bounds. Following her discharge from the hospital, the Dahiphale family celebrated by bringing the newborn girl, named Gargi, and her mother home in a grand chariot procession accompanied by traditional drumbeats, cymbals, and festive dancing.
An Emotional Moment for the Family
Family members were visibly emotional over the long-awaited birth. "A daughter brings true grace to a home. We always felt the absence of a girl in our house. Today, the joy of having a daughter cannot be expressed in words," said her grandfather, Limbaji Dahiphale, holding back tears.
Grandmother Surekha Dahiphale shared, "As soon as we learned about the birth of our granddaughter, we decided right from the hospital to hold a grand procession. Having a girl child after four generations has made us truly understand the worth and importance of a daughter. We will cherish her like a flower."
Father Shares His Joy
Expressing his happiness, Gargi’s father, Rishikesh Dahiphale, said, "Everyone used to tell me that I should have a son, but I personally hoped for a daughter. A daughter holds a special love for her father. A girl has been born in our household after nearly two centuries, and this joy is truly unique and special for us."
