India Post department announced 23,757 Gramin Dak Sevak Vacancies
New Delhi: India Post has officially initiated the recruitment drive for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) positions under the Online Engagement Schedule-II (July 2026). The department has opened the mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR) window, with formal application submissions open through September 21, 2026.
The current drive aims to fill 23,757 posts across various postal circles nationwide, spanning three primary roles: Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak.
State-wise vaccancies
Maharashtra leads the allocation with 2,297 Marathi language posts, followed by Tamil Nadu (2,118 Tamil posts) and Uttar Pradesh (1,691 Hindi posts). Along with Andhra Pradesh's 917 posts, Karnataka's 1116 posts ,Keralam has 1373 vacant posts.

Selection Process & Merit List
There is no written examination for these positions. Selection will be purely merit-based, determined by a system-generated list using Class 10 marks calculated up to four decimal places. Shortlisted candidates will undergo physical document verification and a basic medical examination before final engagement.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit: 18 to 40 years as of September 21, 2026 (standard age relaxations apply for reserved categories).
Education: Class 10 pass with compulsory passes in Mathematics and English.
Essential Skills: Proficiency in the local language of the selected circle, basic computer knowledge, and cycling ability.
Remuneration and Service Terms
GDS roles are non-regular, part-time Central Government engagements governed under specific GDS Rules. Appointees typically work 4 to 5 hours daily and receive a Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA).
Branch Postmaster (BPM): ₹12,000 – ₹29,380 per month (must reside in the post village and arrange local office space).
ABPM / Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 – ₹24,470 per month (must reside within the delivery jurisdiction).
Application Fee & Official Portal
Male applicants from UR, OBC, and EWS categories must pay a fee of ₹100. Female, SC, ST, PwBD, and transwomen candidates are exempt. Candidates are advised to apply strictly through official channels ending in @indiapost.gov.in or @indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
