Fresh Bus Launches Best Captain Award With Rewards Up To ₹5 Crore

Fresh Bus, India's intercity electric bus operator, has launched its Best Captain Award, an annual recognition program designed to strengthen passenger safety, encourage responsible fleet care and recognise bus captains who demonstrate consistently high standards of driving. The initiative offers rewards of up to ₹1 lakh to eligible captains, creating a culture where safety is celebrated and responsible driving is recognised and rewarded.

The annual award cycle will run from Vijayadashami 2026 to Vijayadashami 2027, covering October 20, 2026, to October 9, 2027. Through this initiative, Fresh Bus aims to reinforce the importance of safe and reliable journeys by motivating its captains to make safety an everyday priority. The programme places recognition, encouragement and positive reinforcement at the heart of building a stronger safety culture across its operations.

Under the Best Captain Award, captains will be evaluated on a 100-point scoring framework, with recognition linked to their safety performance and care of the fleet throughout the year. The reward structure comprises three categories:

₹1,00,000: Captains achieving a perfect safety score of 100

₹75,000: Captains scoring between 85 and 99

₹50,000: Captains scoring between 70 and 84

Every captain qualifying within a category will receive the full reward, with no cap on the number of winners. With a workforce of over 500+ captains, the programme could translate into an annual payout of ₹5 crore+, depending on the number of eligible recipients. Fresh Bus views this as an investment in its people and is committed to recognising every captain who meets the prescribed standards.

The evaluation process will be based entirely on documented records and verified data, ensuring fairness, consistency and transparency for every captain. In addition to monetary rewards, recipients will receive certificates and recognition on depot notice boards, reinforcing a culture of appreciation and professional pride.

With the introduction of the policy, Fresh Bus has drawn on its assessment of captain performance to reward several captains who have been associated with the company since 2023 and have consistently demonstrated exemplary driving practices, achieving a perfect safety score of 100.
