Meerut: In a rare blend of traditional wisdom and modern science, renowned celebrity Vedic astrologer Acharya Praveen Chauhan has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree by Shobhit University, Meerut, for his research on the impact of lunar cycles on mental health.
His doctoral study in Psychology, titled “The Impact of the Full Moon on Anxiety and Depression,” examines the relationship between lunar phases and emotional well-being. The research was conducted under the supervision of University Registrar Professor Dr. Ganesh Bhardwaj.
Presenting his findings, Acharya Chauhan said that the Moon, which is considered a key influence on the human mind in Vedic astrology, plays a significant role in regulating emotional patterns. “Our study indicates that emotional intensity tends to peak during full moon phases, which may influence anxiety and depressive symptoms in vulnerable individuals,” he noted.
The research gains relevance at a time when mental health concerns are rising across India, prompting renewed interest in interdisciplinary studies that connect traditional knowledge systems with contemporary psychology.
A prominent name in the astrology and spiritual advisory space, Acharya Chauhan advises leading politicians, corporate leaders, and Bollywood personalities. He is also a regular contributor to several national Hindi and English publications.
The degree was conferred in the presence of Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jayanand, Prof. Anuj Goyal, the Ph.D. Coordinator, and senior faculty members. Chancellor Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra and other dignitaries congratulated Acharya Chauhan on his academic milestone.
University officials said the research reflects the institution’s focus on encouraging innovative and socially relevant scholarship. “Such interdisciplinary work strengthens the dialogue between traditional practices and scientific inquiry,” a senior university representative said.
With this achievement, Acharya Chauhan joins a growing group of professionals who are contributing to academic research while remaining active in their respective industries.
