7-Foot King Cobra Rescued From School Campus In Odisha’s Angul

Wildlife experts believe the snake may have strayed into the school premises in search of a cooler shelter amid the rising summer temperatures.

Bhubaneswar : A seven-foot-long king cobra was safely rescued from the premises of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya at Banamalipur under Thakurgarh in Odisha's Angul district on Sunday, averting a potential danger to students and staff.

According to reports, the reptile had entered the school campus unnoticed and was discovered early in the morning before the arrival of students. The incident came to light when a school peon heard a loud hissing sound from inside the school building.

Alarmed by the unusual noise, he began searching the classrooms and eventually spotted the king cobra inside one of the rooms. School authorities were immediately informed, and precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety of everyone on the campus.

A trained snake rescuer was subsequently contacted and reached the school to carry out the rescue operation. The cobra was carefully captured without causing any harm to the reptile or to the people present at the site.

Following standard wildlife rescue protocols, the king cobra was later released into a nearby forest habitat.
