40 More Talukas Added to Drought-Hit List of 305 Talukas in Maharashtra
Farmers in these 305 talukas can avail the government assistance extended to drought-hit areas

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has added 40 more talukas to the drought-hit list, taking the total affected talukas to 305 out of the state's 358, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday.
Farmers in these talukas can avail the government assistance extended to drought-hit areas, Fadnavis told reporters after the cabinet meeting.
Last month, the state government declared drought in 265 talukas following rainfall deficit and announced relief measures, including crop loan restructuring, land revenue concessions, and power bill subsidies.
Fadnavis said the cabinet also passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for completing 25 years as head of government.
Modi has been serving continuously as head of government - first as chief minister of Gujarat for three terms and subsequently as prime minister of India after winning three Lok Sabha elections - since October 7, 2001.
