Jagan Turned 2023 into Welfare, Development, Mass Outreach Year

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy gave equal priority to welfare and development in 2023, going to every doorstep in the state and ensuring that one or the other programme reached every household during the year.

Year 2023 will enter a special page in the history of Andhra Pradesh, as youth throughout the state have been introduced to sports through Aadudam Andhra. Priority continued to be given to medical, health and industrial sectors, besides bringing reforms in education and agriculture.

On the cultural front, AP state hosted the 22nd edition of Nandi Natakotsavam that breathed life into theatre arts, boosting aspiring artistes. People found response for their issues through Jaganannaku Chebudam and Spandana conducted by state government.

Programmes like Why AP Needs Jagan, Jagananne Maa Bhavishyathu and the mass-based Samajika Sadhikara Bus yatras sent out messages that the present administration must continue for another five-year term for people to enjoy the benefits of welfare schemes.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy visited New Delhi twice. He met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other central leaders seeking development funds and resolution of the pending post-bifurcation issues.

The CM also addressed the NITI Aayog governing council session in the national capital and sought development funds. Besides giving away the Dr. YSR Lifetime Achievement Award and Dr. YSR Achievement Awards – 2023 to 27 individuals and institutions along with the Governor, Jagan Mohan Reddy made the year very memorable for journalists by deciding to allot them house sites.

Importantly, the year 2023 saw state government including Boya (Valmiki) community in the list of the scheduled tribes, setting up the Medical Services Recruitment Board, introducing e-stamping services for registrations, establishing 20 Tourist Police Stations across the state and launching the INDGAP Verification Programme for exporting agricultural produce to European and Western countries.

During the year, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for Tribal University, the ₹4,362 crore Mulapeta Port, ₹4.592 crore Bhogapuram Greenfield International Airport, and ₹21,844 crore Vizag Tech Park. He dedicated Tunnel 2 of the Owk project to people, and launched the $5,156 crore Machilipatnam Port works.

Jagan Mohan Reddy government took school and college education to the next level in 2023 by entering into MoUs with US organisations ETS (Educational Testing Service) and IB (International Baccalaureate) for introducing modern subjects like AI and latest examination methods in government schools.

By preparing ground for rapid industrialisation of the state with successful conduct of Visakhapatnam GIS (Global Investors Summit), the CM laid the foundation stone and inaugurated a slew of industrial, food processing, pharma and green energy projects across the three regions of the state. The government de-notified the “dotted lands” from the prohibited list, benefiting 97, 471 farmer families.

It bestowed on them full ownership rights over 2,06,171 acres worth ₹ 20,000 crore, besides providing 7,92,238 title deeds to farmers in 2,000 villages under the first phase of YSR Jagananna Saswatha Bhu Hakku – Bhu Raksha.

In 2023, AP, led by Jagan Mohan Reddy, went on to win five national awards for paperless medical services (digital health services), innovation award for Dr. YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme, Gold Award from SKOCH for providing loans in large amounts to Self Help Groups (SHGs), SPARK Award for efficient implementation of urban poverty alleviation programmes and Higher Productivity Award from Union Agriculture Ministry to Kothapalli village panchayat in YSR district.
