Central grant being misused: N R Ramesh
Bengaluru: Various state ministers have misused the Rs 108-crore grant released by the Centre as part of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', alleged N.R. Ramesh, BJP city unit president.
He alleged that nearly Rs 92 crore was utilised for things not related to the cleanliness project.
Addressing media persons Ramesh said, "As per the guidelines these funds should be used only for construction of public toilets or for maintenance of solid waste management plant."
However, out of Rs 108.55 crore released, the BBMP used only Rs 16.28 crore for the purpose, while the rest (Rs 92.27 crore) was used for road laying, street lights and development of parks.
He accused ruling party politicians - Agriculture Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Housing Minister M. Krishnappa, MLAs Priya Krishna, Byrathi Basavaraj, Zameer and Harish of misusing the grant. He also accused KPCC working President Dinesh Gundurao of misusing the grant.
