Train halted for woman in labour
Warangal: Thanks to quick coordination by railway officials, the Bengaluru-Varanasi Yeshwantpur Express made an emergency halt the Peddapalli station when a passenger went into labour on Sunday. It was a close call, as the passenger, Anitha Devi, gave birth in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.
Police said Anitha Devi was travelling home with her brother Vinay Kumar and family members. She complained of labour pain when the train was nearing Peddapalli.
Her brother and co-passengers informed the railway officials who alerted the officials at the Peddapalli station, Station officials called a ‘108’ ambulance. As soon as the train halted at the station, Anitha Devi was shifted to the ambulance and taken to a hospital.
On the way, Anitha Devi delivered a son in the ambulance. The delivery was carried out with the help of the 108 staff. The mother and the baby were shifted to a mother and child health care centre in Peddapalli.
Anitha Devi’s family thanked railway officials and the 108 staff for their quick response.
