Hyderabad: 82-year-old undergoes rare heart surgery
Hyderabad: An 82-year-old woman whose heart muscles were blocked and the heart was not able to pump blood to the other parts of the body opted for aortic stenosis, where an artificial valve was placed and it was found to be successful in a city hospital.
The women was a cancer survivor and she could not be taken for open heart surgery due to her compromised condition.
Dr Anuj Kapadiya, senior consultant cardiologist explained, “An artificial aortic valve was implanted in the heart where the procedure is similar to angioplasty.
The senior citizen has responded well to the treatment as her breathing improved after the treatment.”
The women was suffering from severe breathing difficulty, repeated infections and fluid accumulation in the lungs which have now been sorted out as the heart is now able to pump blood.
