He will be kept under observation for two days at the hospital, said Mutt sources.

Chennai: The condition of Sri Jayendra Saraswati swamy who was admitted to a hospital in Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday is stated to be stable. He will be kept under observation for two days at the hospital, said Mutt sources.

The pontiff of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swami who was camping in Vijayawada since the last few days overseeing the “Chaturmasya Deeksha” — a four-month religious ritual, had complained of uneasiness on Monday night. And on Tuesday when he felt dizzy, he was rushed to the hospital where the doctors found that his blood sugar level had dipped considerably and so too the sodium level.

“Immediately, the doctors provided him the treatment and stabilised him. The Acharya is stable now and will be under observation for the next two days in the ICU,” said sources at Kanchi Mutt.

Following the sudden development, a team of four doctors from the city had reached Vijayawada on Tuesday morning to attend on the Seer. The junior pontiff Sri Vijeyandra Saraswati swamy who is also camping in Vijayawada had visited the Acharya.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was said to have spoken to the officials of the Mutt over phone and enquired about the Seer’s health condition. He directed the Krishna district collector to ensure better medicare to the senior pontiff.
