Women’s body to raise awareness on marriage certification

The move is aimed at helping victims of domestic violence to claim property rights and benefits under Kalyana Lakshmi Pathakam Scheme

Hyderabad: Officials of the Mahila Shakti Kendra said that they will intensify their drive to create awareness about the Marriage Registrations Act, 2002, to help women get their marriages registered.

They said that the move is aimed at helping victims of domestic violence to claim property rights and benefits under Kalyana Lakshmi Pathakam Scheme.

The drive is being held since August 2021 in coordination with the GHMC, which is facilitating the issuance of marriage certificates. Mahila Shakti Kendra officials said that 10 certificates were issued in August 2021 and 92 till March 2022.

Officials said that since certificates signed by the deputy commissioner were not being accepted for Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, a letter was sent to all district officers to accept the same in Hyderabad.
