Pathipaka reservoir to address drinking, irrigation needs

Being constructed at a total cost of Rs 230 crore, the project comprises the Pathipaka reservoir, costing Rs 103 crore

Karimnagar: Arrangements for the construction of the Pathipaka reservoir, which will have a storage capacity of 1 tmc ft (one billion cubic feet), are going on at a brisk pace in Dharmaram mandal of Jagtial district.

The project, once completed, is expected to cater to the drinking water needs of 30 villages, as well as the irrigation needs of 10,000 acres in Dharmaram and Ramagadu mandals.

Water for the reservoir will be supplied through the Motewagu, constructed over the flood canal, from Ramachandrapuram village in Ramagadu mandal to SRSP canal at Kurampalli village. Around 7,000 acres are located downstream of the planned construction.

Being constructed at a total cost of Rs 230 crore, the project comprises the Pathipaka reservoir, costing Rs 103 crore, a seven-kilometre canal from Revelli village to the reservoir, costing Rs 37.5 crore, and a 15-kilometre canal to village downstream, costing Rs 89.5 crore.

Welfare minister Koppula Eshwar, during a recent review, directed officials of departments concerned in Jagtial district to submit proposals regarding the project to the state government for clearances.
