Vellapally Natesan visit divides Sivagiri Mutt

Swamy Guru Prasad said he and a few other members were kept in the dark about his visit.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A day after Vellapally Natesan, SNDP Yogam general secretary, attended the leadership meet at Sivagiri Mutt, Swamy Guru Prasad, one of the director board members of the Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust, has challenged his visit. He demanded Vellapally to return the leased land which he had illegally possessed but belonged to Sivagiri Mutt. He had returned to Sivagiri Mutt after almost 22 years on Saturday along with his son and BDJS state president Tushar Vellappally sharing the dais with the mutt's office bearers, including nonagenarian former SNDST president Swamy Saswathikananda.

He had said, with the association of two entities, he felt they have become “two hearts”. But on Sunday, Swamy Guru Prasad said he and a few other members were kept in the dark about his visit. “The last board was held on June 16. On its agenda, the visit was not there. Nor we discussed the leadership meeting details,” he said. He said what he should be doing was to return the land. But Mr Natesan told DC that he had not taken anyone’s land, and he was talking about the land taken by R. Sankar in the 60s. “I do not have any role in it. If my information is right, it is 28 acres which had been taken to reclaim the pond during Sankar’s time,” he said. Ever since Swamy Vishuddhananda took over as the new president of the SNDST last year, it was almost sure that he would make a comeback.
