Kozhikode: Suspended sub inspector P M Vimodh known for his eccentricities
KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode Town SI P.M. Vimodh, who was suspended on Saturday, said that he acted on the verbal communication by the district judge to prevent mediapersons from entering the court premises. He added that he did his duty without bending his backbone. He refused to comment further on the case since investigations were on and was confident that truth would be revealed. Appointed recently in the service, Vimodh is known for his eccentricities, say police sources.
Though he took charge of the Kozhikode Town Station less than a month ago, his action was mimicked as ‘inspired by Action Hero Biju’. He was part of ‘Operation Idiminnal’ and had taken funny actions against the eve-teasers. Making the eve-teasers jump on one leg for 50 times, ordering push-ups for 100 times and making a pledge that they would never tease a girl in their life were some of the punishments. He was known as uncompromising to any influences. The same could have led to the confrontation with the media too.
Don’t stretch it anymore, says VS Achuthanandan
Veteran CPM leader V S Achuthanandan has appealed for restraint following action against the police officer in connection with the Kozhikode attack on mediapersons. He said since the government had now acted against the sub inspector, the Kozhikode incident should not be stretched further. The veteran leader, however, urged the government to create a peaceful atmosphere for the mediapersons to discharge their official duties without fear or intimidation.
