Puducherry: Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on Sunday asked superstar Rajinikanth to be the brand ambassador of ‘Prosperous Puducherry’ an initiative that seeks to make the union territory free from open defecation by 2017.
“We want to make Puducherry defecation free by October 2nd 2017. We need everybody to be involved so that nobody defecated openly and (ensure) that everybody has a washroom or toilet of their own. Rajinikanth could play a very vital role in making an appeal and sending the right message to Puducherry, that you could become the first union territory in India to be open defecation free,” she told the media.
Bedi felt that Rajinikanth could be influential in convincing people to bring about a behavioural change and promote the use of toilets and end open defecation.

The Lt Governor said that the actor could make a huge difference due to his 'mass appeal' and the fan following in the country.
