Hyderabad: The consumer grievances redressal forum has ordered TSSPDCL to withdraw an electricity bill issued to a consumer by wrongly mentioning an eighth LT category instead of the actual 2nd category.
Forum’s chairperson N. Jayaraj and members B. Lalitha, Shoba Rani and Gajendhar directed the power distribution company to withdraw the bill that is tune of Rs 1.77 lakh within fifteen days. They told the company to adjust the amount in the next bills, if they had collected any amount.
The forum was dealing with a grievance of one Rama Subramanian Ashok Swamynathan, the authorized signatory of Sterling Villas Owners Welfare Association at Gundla Pochampally. He complained that they were being levied for a wrong category. At the time of inspection, the consumer was availing supply for construction of a multistoried building and the back billing amount was proposed due to change of category from Cat-II to cat-VIII.
The complainant contended that there was no temporary meter connection as it was specifically meant for common amenities and was in no way connected to the construction of the multistoried apartments.
The meter reader calculated the bill amount from 2020 to March 2021 and the bill was issued for 16 months, totaling to Rs 1.77 lakh. The consumer grievances redressal forum ordered TSSPDCL not to initiate any proceedings against the complainants.
