Poll code: Karnataka High Court stays summons to Dr G
Bengaluru: Karnataka High Court on Thursday stayed the summons issued by a special court against Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwar, for alleged violation of model code of conduct during Jamkhandi Assembly by-election in Bagalkot district.
The Election Commission had registered a complaint against Dr Parameshwar following allegations that he had exhorted voters to vote for the Congress in return for repairing a major road.
According to reports, while addressing a rally at Savalagi village in Jamkhandi taluk, the Deputy Chief Minister had said, “I have one condition to complete the Savalagi-Jamkhandi road repair work in three months. You should vote for our party candidate. Mere claps for my promise will not work. Is it alright if we enter into such a deal with you?”
The election was held after Congress MLA Siddu Nyamagouda died in a road accident.
Majestic underpass encroachment
The High Court has issued notices to BBMP, City Police Commissioner and others following a PIL against alleged illegal encroachment of vendors in Majestic pedestrian underpass that connects City Railway Station, Kempegowda Bus Station and Metro Station.
