Thiruvananthapuram: Pravesanolsavam-2018, the official school reopening celebrations, will kick off from Government LPS and Government Girls HSS in Nedumangad on Friday.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the function that the education minister C. Raveendranath will be presiding over, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan project director Dr A.P. Kuttykrishnan said.
“There has been a steady increase in the number of students getting enrolled in government schools, and we expect the trend to continue this year too," he said.
"Pravesanolsavam is also the commencement of various projects devised for the development of the educational sector. Schools are freshly painted and decorated. Classrooms will get children-friendly furniture.”
The celebrations will commence at the LPS with the education minister welcoming newcomers at 9 am briefly. Mr Vijayan will inaugurate celebrations at the Girls HSS at 9.25 am.
A. Shajahan, secretary, department of general education, will welcome guests.
Deputy speaker V. Shashi will be the chief guest. A. Sampath MP will release Nanma Pookunna Naleyk, an awareness handbook for parents.
C. Divakaran MLA will inaugurate the distribution of study materials, and V.K. Madhu, the district panchayat president, will unveil the academic calendar.
K.V. Mohankumar, director, general education, will release his book Ganithavijayam.
