Situation under control in Uttarakhand: Rains completely stopped
Bengaluru: Amid growing fear and confusion, Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre officials maintained that the situation is under control in Uttarakhand with rains completely stopping on Monday.
The officials said that sunny weather was seen since Monday morning and vehicular movement had resumed. An official said that there was distress among tourists from Karnataka and other states when two bridges were washed away. However, an alternative road has been identified to clear traffic and although the road is narrow, vehicles are no longer stranded, the official said.
Meanwhile, family members of tourists from Bengaluru who are in Uttarakhand, established contact with their family and relatives and were relieved to know that the weather was very clear. “I spoke to my mother who reached Kedarnath on Monday and she said that the rain had stopped. She also said that there were no problems for food, shelter and other necessities,” said Rajendar Singh.
