Pre-monsoon clean up: Rs 35,000 for each ward in Kerala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting convened to review the pre-monsoon campaign on Monday decided to acquire a floating mechanical weed remover to clean Parvathy Puthanar and ensure the free flow of water round the year. Power minister Kadakampally Surendran, who is in charge of the district, called the meeting with representatives of corporations, municipalities and panchayats in the district.
A total of Rs 35,000 has been earmarked for pre-monsoon drives in each ward. Based on the complaints regarding clogged drains, PWD has been asked to clean all drains and apprise him of the action taken this week. Irrigation and health ministers will also hold similar meetings and give orders to clean Amyizhanjan once more.
Collector Biju Prabhakar gave permission for pruning trees on a war footing, and an intense anti-mosquito campaign will be there until June 5. The dangerous boulders would be removed by controlled explosion or other methods, and residents will be temporarily relocated.
Similarly, those who were displaced by sea erosion will be relocated from camps in schools to community halls in the wake of school reopening. Citizens can call health control rooms at collectorate on 0471-2730045 and 944711281 if they perceive a chance of any epidemic spreading in their area.
