Thrissur Medical College Hospital to take solar route
Thrissur: The KSEB has started a survey for a detailed project report (DPR) on a 4-MW solar power project for Thrissur Medical College Hospital at Mulankunnathukavu here. Wadakkanchery MLA Anil Akkara had approached power minister M. M. Mani with the proposal for the hospital that consumes 11,000 units a day. The KSEB will complete the survey in April, and the DPR for the Rs 24-crore project will be ready in another month and after that explore the sources of funds.
KSEB sources say the terrace of the new buildings and proposed buildings will be used to place solar panels. The power produced will go to the KSEB grid, which will ensure uninterrupted power supply for the MCH free of cost. They have identified academic and hospital blocks along with paramedical quarters, proposed child and mother care block and the old age care building for installing the solar panels.
