A K Saseendran returns to rousing welcome

The former minister thanked the public and media for their support and promised to be active in Elathur, his constituency.

Kozhikode: Former transport minister A.K. Saseendran, accompanied by his wife Anitha Krishnan, returned to Kozhikode on Thursday morning where he was warmly welcomed by his supporters and union members at the KSRTC bus station. He thanked the public, cultural leaders and media for their support amidst the controversy over his alleged phone talk with a woman. He said that he would continue to be active in his constituency - Elathur. “I have a commitment to the voters who sent me to the Assembly, and I will try my level best to meet their expectations. I am not the one to decide whether I will return to the cabinet or not,” Mr Saseendran told the media.

While announcing his resignation here on Sunday over the airing of his phone talk by a newly-launched news channel, Mr Saseendran said that he had not done anything wrong. “At the same time, the pride of the party and the government has to be protected. My resignation is to uphold political morality,” he had said. The Nationalist Congress Party has already announced its decision to recommend Mr Thomas Chandy MLA from Kuttanad to replace Mr Saseendran. A letter to the chief minister and the LDF convenor would be presented on Friday, NCP state president Uzhavoor Vijayan said.
