77-year-old jumps to death from Kerala High Court

This is the first time such an unfortunate event has happened at Kerala High Court.

Kochi: A 77-year-old man committed suicide by jumping off the seventh floor of Kerala High Court building. The septuagenarian was identified as K.L. Johnson from Kollam district. He was taken to Government Hospital, but was pronounced ‘brought dead’. Police registered a case and launched a probe. Johnson is known as Pulival Johnson and had filed several petitions before various courts and had made several interventions keeping only public interest in mind. Johnson is unmarried. This is the first time such an unfortunate event has happened at Kerala High Court.

He was at the second floor of the High Court where a mediation cell of the court is situated. According to police he climbed to the seventh floor and jumped off the parapet at 12 noon. Several onlookers spotted him and even tried to dissuade him, but he jumped and hit a sun shade and fell on to a white car parked near the first gate of the High Court. Some people at the court complex informed the policemen in the Security Cabin and they informed the guards on the eighth floor, but failed to save him. The man had reportedly come to meet a lawyer, but sources at the administration wing of High Court clarified that at present there were no cases filed by him.
