Seven dead in van mishap in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Seven people, who were part of a wedding party, died in a road mishap in Ranga Reddy district on Wednesday morning. At least 25 were injured in the accident.
The accident took place when a speeding mini-truck carrying the victims overturned near Rukmapally Gate in Pargi mandal. There are four women among the dead.
According to Ranga Reddy police, around 50 people were travelling in the truck when it overturned at a slight curve on the road. Three people died on the spot.
The truck was moving so fast that the driver lost control. “We suspect he was trying to overtake another vehicle. He also applied brakes suddenly and the truck overturned, killing three people on the spot,” said Ranga Reddy SP Rema Rajeswari. Four more people succumbed to injuries at Shadan Hospital in the district.
The deceased were identified as Kavli Anasuja, 40, Bottu Manaiah, 65, Boini Navin, 16, M. Laxmi, 35, Boini Buchaih, 50, Kavali Buchaiah, 70, and Boini Sharanya, 18. All the victims belong to the same family.
The accident took place at around 10.30 am, when the wedding party was going to Uttarajpally village in Mahbubnagar district. “They started from Dyasaram village in Ranga Reddy district,” said Ms Rajeswari.
The victims decided to travel in the truck as they could not afford cars or a bus, officials said. A case was booked by the Pargi police against driver P. Saidappa, who is absconding.
